Babe Ruth hits his first home run for the Boston Braves.
April 16, 1935
The Braves beat the Giants 4-2 at Braves Field as Ruth hits a home run of Carl Hubbel in his first game since returning as a member of a Boston team. After being released by the Yankees the previous February, Ruth had signed with the Braves in hopes of later being named the team manager. He goes on to hit three home runs in the Braves lose 11-7 to the Pirates in Pittsburgh on May 25, 1935, but plays his last major league game at the Baker Bowl in Philadelphia on May 30, 1935, and announces his retirement on June 2, 1935.
